Information architecture:
What is included in the app?
The app includes many icons displayed on the home screen as a navigation to flow through the content. There is no particular organisation of the icons which makes it difficult to find what your looking for at first glance. An order can be implemented by placing them in categories; Travel, Services, Social and Help.
User experience flow:
Are there any tasks or activities missing from the app? Can you suggest anything else?
The WSU app cover the basic needs of a student’s general tasks. Although it can improve by implementing a direct timetable tab instead of going through the MyWestern icon to reach this outcome. Overall it covers what is needed for on the go accessible tasks.
User Interface:
Is the app easy to use?
The visual display of the icons is an easy structure to follow by as it requires minimal effort to look for certain tabs. The increased use of graphic communication with icons and images creates a visual language with the user despite their previous knowledge.
Can you navigate easily?
Due to the flat layout of icons the user can navigate at ease. The flow of the app is minimal, by keeping this arrangement it requires limited amount of knowledge with applications.
Do you have suggestions for changes?
The app needs to be restructured with categories and drop menus. Displaying all tabs on the home screen limits flow and creates a dull user experience.
